Studio Policy
TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
The teacher’s pledge: to teach the discipline, language, and joy of making music at the piano. The teacher will provide a safe, supportive, positive learning environment. The curriculum will be tailored to support each student’s individual learning and musical needs.
In order to provide the most effective teaching possible, the following policies have been established below.
TUITION & FEES :
1.1 Tuition covers the time spent with you/your child, as well as time spent preparing for lessons.
1.2 Students may enroll in weekly 30, 45 or 60-minute private lessons, depending on age/level. Please WhatsApp us at +65 87955310 for tuition rates for different courses.
1.3 A deposit is chargeable upon enrolemnt. The deposit cannot be used to offset any regular lesson fees unless a termination notice is served either by the studio or requested by the student.
1.4 Student books and materials are not included in the tuition. Students will periodically be asked to purchase music and supplies---the teacher will provide specific information on items needed and how and where to easily purchase them.
PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS:
2.1 DAILY PRACTICE is expected and required for progress. Parents should help their child include piano practice in their daily routine, and will receive guidance on how to support their child’s practice at home.
2.2 Students must have an instrument at home to practice on. An acoustic piano is necessary for proper technical and musical development. You can start lessons without one (to see if it will be a good fit), but you can’t continue for long without something suitable on which to practice. Please feel free to contact us for guidance in this area. Studio also offers piano room hire for student’s practice, please WhatsApp 87955310 for more information.
2.3 Parents and students are strongly encouraged to communicate via text during the week regarding questions over assignments or practice, issues at home, etc.
TERMINATION OF LESSONS:
3.1 If for any reason the parent/student decides to terminate lessons, two (2) weeks' advance notice of lesson termination is requested. Deposit can be used to offset the last 2 lesson fees. Leftover tuition fee is not refundable for lessons forfeited.
ATTENDANCE & CANCELLATION POLICY:
4.1 The tuition paid reserves an exclusive weekly time for the student. Unlike certain other professions, the teacher cannot resell that time nor can the teacher create extra teaching time in which to give lessons. You are therefore requested to choose a lesson day/time which works consistently with you/your child’s schedule.
4.2 24 hours' notice is required to cancel a lesson, no charge for such missed lessons.
4.3 Excessive absences and late payment of tuition fees will result in losing reserved regular lesson time.
4.4 Any cancellation by the students within 24 hours will be charged as no-show, no credits, refunds or make up for such missed lessons (If cancellation is due to sudden unwellness, a Medical Certificate must be presented to avoid no-show charge).
4.5 Any lesson that the teacher has to cancel will not be charged.
4.6 Make-up lesson offered in place for any missed lesson need to be arranged within 1 week after said missed lesson. If not arranged in time, the make-up priviledge is considered forfeited.
STUDIO CLEANLINESS:
5.1 To maintain a clean teaching and learning environment for all, students are requested to remove their shoes upon entering the studio. Students should arrive with clean hands and short fingernails.
5.2 Students should remove their shoes once they enter, and leave shoes in hallway.
5.3 Students must wash hands thoroughly (soap and water) upon arrival.
5.4 For safety reasons, parents must drop off and pick up their child(ren) within 5 minutes of the lesson start and end times.
5.5 The studio piano keys will be cleaned and sanitized between each student’s lesson.
