Keith is a trained classical pianist. He was in the Raffles Institution brass band playing the glockenspiel. He also played as a percussionist in the Singapore Chamber Ensemble and Singapore Youth Orchestra. Later, he was selected by the Royal Navy Band to serve his national service as a flutist for two and a half years.
He has ABRSM Grade 8 practical and theory certificate and has taught students from children to adults over 25 years in 3 music schools and in private in Singapore. His students have obtained merit and distinctions in their ABRSM examinations (from Grade 1 to Grade 8). He has also been an accompanist to violinist and clarinettist in their ABRSM music examinations.
Keith is familiarized with various teaching methods in the music schools that he has taught. With that experience, he will adopt the appropriate methodology according to his students’ backgrounds and aptitudes to ensure they will build up a good foundation and pianistic skills.
Keith is keeping in touch with the music scene globally and will encourage his students to learn more by broadening their outlook and enhancing their appreciation in music, besides the piano repertoire.
